Programming. It's what goes on behind your website's face to the public... it's what makes it smile and be pleasant and perform nice informational tricks to entertain and edify your viewer. Within software engineering, programming (the implementation) is regarded as one phase in a software development process. Good programming is generally considered to be an art, a craft and an engineering discipline, with the goal of producing an efficient and evolvable software solution. That, of course, is the ideal. Efficient and evolvable often do not co-exist. In our world, though, they do.

The programmer uses a language that is "code" or forms the code that makes the computer respond mechanically to what is the desired performance.

Said another way, programming is the craft of transforming requirements into something that a computer can execute.
